Being Comfortable with the Uncomfortable

Why is it we fear emotional discomfort so much? Is it we’re afraid we’ll never recover from that uncomfortable feeling? In reality, emotions are fleeting and free flowing, if we allow them to run their course. Just like anything in life, emotions move like the ocean. Sometimes calm, sometimes rolling, and sometimes tumultuous. It’s when we freeze in fear of the feeling that we become stuck in the muck. What if, every time we felt this discomfort we allowed ourselves to become the observer of that emotion? We simply step back, take a breath, and recognize its presence. We can then encourage it to move on through us like a wave, recognizing its fluidity and seeing it for what it truly is. An illusion created by our minds.

If our minds are powerful enough to create turmoil then it clearly has the ability to create peace. With each tear felt, and every grip of the heart, we encompass the wherewithal to move our emotions to a place of serenity. I chose the photo above for that exact reason. Although she reveals the sadness she feels, expressed through a tiny tear streaming down her cheek, she is surrounded with the images of soft bunnies, beautiful bluebells, and tender butterflies, bringing her solace. We all hold the power to bring this peace into our being. We simply need to recall our soul’s path and all it entails. Some of our experiences wouldn’t be considered enjoyable by any means, but they are certainly required for our internal growth. While we roll inside of that dark tunnel we must remember light always shines in the distance. And then it becomes brighter and brighter as we glide into the knowingness of our spirit.

Our souls know what is needed for our spiritual growth. It knows how long to sit in grief, how long to contemplate taking action, or not, and how long to wait before looking for the light again. It is always wise to sit with those feelings and listen for the answers. Your intuition will guide you and comfort you where the discomfort lies. Trust this ability you have within yourself and follow the path you came here to live. All the bumps and bruises will illuminate the meaning behind your fears, and open the gateway to your Light. Trust it. follow it. Be it.

What Your Soul Knows To Be True

Well, here we are, another spring upon us and it feels like life is coming alive again!  Not sure how many long northeast winters will be in my future. The timeline of life travels so quickly and there’s much to be enjoyed along this pristine and dusty road stretching ahead of us. My oldest daughter ventured out to California and is returning soon, and now my second daughter is wanting to check out schools in Cali.  As Joni sings, “California, oh California, I’m comin’ home…” I’ve always related to that song but whoever knows where I’ll land.  I sure don’t.  Santa Fe felt like home to me too.  As soon as I touched down at the airport I felt it.  The pull of red dirt, turquoise and silver tugged at my heart.  Why?  I don’t know, but in some ways I do.  My point of this reminiscent writing is to follow your heart’s desire.  Don’t put it off, the time is now, and whatever you do live in the now and enjoy every moment as much as you possibly can.

My latest endeavor?  Embarking on a race called Hero Rush, created by our heroic firefighters.  It’s a five mile, twenty obstacle course consisting of freezing water, tube tunnels, fire hose carrying, rope climbing, smoke house running, tire trekking, fire hopping and more.  Some people think I’m crazy and ask why I would do such a thing.  I think to myself, why wouldn’t I?  I get comments like, “You’re 52, don’t you think you should settle down?”, or, “Aren’t you worried about getting hurt?”, or my favorite fear comment, “Oh my, that looks so hard, are you sure you can do it?”  These comments don’t stop me, they just challenge me more. This is what I know to be true, I won’t “settle down” until I take my last breath.  And then the world of spirit opens up along with a whole new playground full of love, learning & experiences.  Except this time, it’s played out with complete unconditional love beckoning behind the veil.

Always trust what your soul knows to be true. Listen for the signals and see the signs.  Our connection to Spirit is so very strong, we need only to practice awareness.  I had no idea what photo I was going to add to this post today, I took a break, came back to my computer and this photo of me was mysteriously bookmarked. I trust it, and I know why.  The fair skinned, blonde haired girl with green eyes will always be a Native American girl at heart, riding her horse through the corn fields.

TRUTH

Your time is limited, don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma, which is living the result of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinion drown your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition, they somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.
— Steve Jobs

Trusting Intuition

‎”I could only do it by letting go and trusting—trusting that my intuition was right, that I would get the help I needed, and that things would unfold as they should.” – Peggy Rome

Trusting your intuition isn’t always easy.  We tend to second guess ourselves when we get that “feeling”.  Am I really able to reach that dream?  Why am I feeling like something isn’t quite right?  I am being told one thing and sensing something else.   Always trust your intuition.  It isn’t something that requires forcing,  just believe in its truth.  Go with your feeling, be true to yourself,  and all the rest will play out.  It WILL come to you.

When you follow the path you know is right and healthy for you people and projects will begin to fall at your feet.  It often requires patience and perseverance so be prepared to gather your strength and travel with it.  If you have a wish for your future, whether it be personal, professional or a simple project, keep it with you.  Write it down, step into it one day at a time and keep your mind and heart on your desire.  Manifestation is a powerful tool.  Use it and never give up.  If you turn off your path it’s never too late to get back on and allow the universe to work with you in reaching what is meant for you!  Just remember, the more you turn off your path, the longer it will take to reach your destination.  Your choice, your future.

What is your intuition telling you?  LISTEN and you just might find that HEART of gold at the end of your rainbow.
